We have tried our best to make our event as accessible as possible and to assist with this, we are delighted to be able to offer a free pass for Personal Assistants or essential companions who are caring for our disabled visitors aged 16+ during the event. Please see conditions below. We also have a designated Safe Area which is situated on The Wylde. If you are applying for a pass, you must supply formal proof of your additional needs. Once your request is approved, you will receive an email to let you know where to collect the wristbands for yourself and your assistant.
Please note than any essential companion must be able to safely assist the person they are caring for in the event of an emergency evacuation or fire.
Companion passes are limited in number. Please be considerate to others when applying for them. Do not apply if you are able to attend and enjoy the day without assistance.
The closing date for companion pass applications is 5pm on Friday 17th August 2024
(Outdoor stage close to the Castle Armoury): The road is cobbled (as part of a conservation area) which makes it prohibitive for certain wheelchairs. The pavements are flat however some of the stones are cracked in places. The pavement is blocked on one side adjacent to the stage area by the bar but the other side remains accessible. Crowd capacity at this stage is around 500 people.
(Outdoor stage on Bank St): As above although the capacity at this stage is slightly lower and it is a long, narrow space rather than a wide one.
This is a level access area with dropped kerbs in an area which will be closed to traffic throughout the event.
(central area hosting our market, first aid, safe area and the Robert Peel statue): Flat access with road closures either side, please be aware of crowds in this area.
(Outdoor stage adjacent to the Parish Church): This stage provides full, flat access on a tarmac surface. The stage is elevated and the tarmac surface is in excellent condition.
(Outdoor stage on Broad Street): This stage is positioned at the bottom of Broad St in an area which provides full level access.
A level access area with a DJ stage. This area features a higher degree of flashing lights than our other stages.
(Indoor stage on Bolton St): No access to wheelchairs due to steep staircases
We make use of the town centre’s existing parking spots and there are plenty of “blue badge” spaces in the immediate vicinity of the event.
Glaston-Bury is an independently organised not-for-profit event based in Bury, Lancashire. It is not affliliated with, associated with or supported by the people who organise Glastonbury.
The two events are absolutely nothing to do with each other but we want to make sure that there is no confusion(!)
